Sequester This

Congress is headed home tonight for a long weekend, leaving town with apparently no qualms about the impending sequester.  Massive cuts in defense and domestic spending are due to kick in at midnight tonight.  You probably think it doesn't impact you.  You're wrong; it impacts all of us.

I have a daughter-in-law who is a civilian employee of the Air Force.  Because of the cuts in defense spending she is likely to be furloughed from her job for 2 days each week.  That's a 40% pay cut.  Now multiply her times thousands of government employees.  Those pay cuts mean less disposable income.  Less disposable income means less spending on cars, durable goods, family vacations, entertainment and restaurant meals.  That means less business and less sales for a broad variety of businesses all over the country.  And that's just a small segment impacted by the sequester cuts.

The toll on small businesses, education and family budgets will be tremendous.  Meanwhile, House members are headed home for the weekend, secure with their salaries, perks and better medical coverage than any of us.  We sent them there to represent us; their attitude is "Let them eat cake".

Gawd! I remember when a job I was working cut one day a week from us.

It was awful!

It desperately needs attention and some serious, for a change, negotiations.

Obama Caught Lying About Sequester.

The President, Democrats and Republicans are all to blame. The President wrote the sequester into law. Why he is getting a pass to something he agreed to do is beyond me.

Two days out of 5 is a 40% pay cut, twice as bad as you thought. Hopefully it won't happen right away and those jackasses will see it's not the PR victory they're expecting out here in the real world.

Big Guy...somebody has to put a stop to Obama's reckless spending. He is actually addicted, he does not care how deeply he leaves the country in dept.

The debt of the federal government has now increased by $6 trillion during the time that Barack Obama has been president, according to the U.S. Treasury.
At the close of business on Jan. 20, 2009, the day Obama was first inaugurated, the debt of the federal government was $10,626,877,048,913.08. At the close of business on Thursday, Feb. 28, the debt of the federal government hit $16,687,289,180,215.37.

That means that so far during Obama’s presidency, the total debt of the federal government has increased by $6,060,412,131,302.29.

According to the latest estimate from the Census Bureau, there are 115,031,000 households in the United States. Thus, the debt of the federal government has increased by approximately $52,685 per household during Obama’s time in office.
